Robert H. Guard attended Ohio University at Athens, Ohio, where he received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Mr. Guard studied poetry writing there under Wayne Dodd and several others, the most influential being Dr. Dodd, Bin Ramke, who went on to win the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award, and Horace Coleman, a gifted poet and Vietnam veteran. Upon graduation, Mr. Guard became an advertising copywriter and has worked in the marketing field for most of his career to the present. Mr. Guard has attended the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop (poetry) by invitation for two consecutive years, studying with Roseanna Warren and David Baker. His recent poetry is forthcoming in Nimrod, Poet Lore, Argestes, Tightrope, and Zone 3.
